Children around the world today enjoy their rights guaranteed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, but these laws and conventions are not always respected. We as Respect Our Rights work every day towards a future where this problem will not exist at all.
On Europe Day, our aspirations and goals are truly great, but no matter how much we reach as children, every time we want to touch even higher peaks. One such tip would be the involvement of Kosovo children in European Union decision-making. As a group of children, Respect Our Rights have just started the internationalization of Kosovo in terms of children’s rights. Attending the conference on the rights of children in Geneva, the European Action Week for Girls, and the first virtual international meeting for Earth Day are just a few that come to mind. It only gives us hope and inspiration to continue our work.
Kosovo’s path to EU membership for us as children of Kosovo would not only have a positive impact but also on the whole country, would give us a completely different perspective and much more developed in terms of children’s rights. . We would be part of the decisions made on our rights, our voice could be heard, even more, these problems could be assimilated, which in many cases the world turns a blind eye to, to remove those stereotypes that put down the children.
Kosovo could learn a lot from the progress of other countries which, even if they are not perfect, have achieved most of these goals just mentioned. Our participation would also have a positive impact on the education of children, opening new doors for a better education. We could progress and be recognized as a more advanced state than before.
In addition to the benefits, our experiences could help us make decisions on the current topic. Our updates would give a new twist to the problems that children face in updating. We could be part of that percentage, no matter how small, that could change our lives for the better.
